The 411: Named for Mount Carmel in Palestine because of its fertile valleys, this Carmel (pronounced CAR-mel, like the mount, not the city in California) is indeed a bucolic area filled with many hills, lakes, and beautiful views. Residents take advantage of a wealth of outdoor amusements, including fishing on Lake Gleneida, golfing at Centennial Golf Club, hitting the beach at Sycamore Park Waterfront or, for the younger set, extreme bicycling and skateboarding at the 20-acre wheel park at Crane Road Fields.
