1. Bull and Buddha restaurant in Poughkeepsie celebrated its one-year anniversary with a party and graffiti competition in September. Ten artists competed for a $500 prize by spray-painting designs on a fence surrounding the eatery. Smaller canvases were auctioned off to benefit the Children’s Media Project; a total of $1,000 was raised for the nonprofit arts and education organization

2. The New City Little League 11-12 Softball All Stars were introduced to fans at Yankee Stadium. The team was honored for making it to the 2011 Little League World Series in Portland, Oregon

3. The Club at Briarcliff Manor hosted a wine-tasting event for seniors on Sept. 7. Pictured is Senior Living Counselor Joan Manley with Dr. and Mrs. Gerald Weinberger of Ardsley

4. The Jacob Burns Film Center in Pleasantville held a tribute to Stephen Spielberg on Sept. 17. Spielberg received the 2011 Vision Award for his successful career as a director, screenwriter, and producer. 5. More than 100 guests attended “Dinner at Eleanor’s: A Moveable Feast,” a fund-raising event for the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val-Kill and AIDS-Related Community Services. Held at Oak Terrace (Eleanor Roosevelt’s childhood home in Tivoli), the feast was created by noted Valley chefs, including (from left): Wade McEnroe of McEnroe Organic Farm; Michel Jean, the Stissing House; Paul Yeaple, Poppy’s; Joshua Needleman, Chocolate Springs Cafe; and Rebecca Joyner, Lindsey Garner, and Noah Sheetz, all of the Hudson Valley Chefs Consortium

6. St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital held a gala to honor the “pink ladies” auxiliary, a group of community advocates and fund-raisers that has assisted the hospital for the last 60 years. The gala attracted approximately 500 guests, and raised more than $100,000 for the hospital. 7. The SUNY Orange Foundation held its sixth annual Leadership Awards ceremony on Sept. 20. This year’s honorees included (from left) Thomas P. Miller, Alumni Leadership; Terry Saturno, representing Orange County Trust Company, Leadership in Business; and Dr. William Richards, SUNY Orange president, Leadership in Education
