Soul Dog proves that not all hot dog eateries have to hearken back to their roots as smog-blackened roadside carts. Instead, its hip and colorful interior is just as unique as its gourmet offerings, with gluten-free options as a specialty and toppings ranging from housemade Soul Sauce, to guacamole, bacon, and others (bonus: The first two toppings are 50 cents each, the third is on the house). Try a Sabrett beef dog with chili and cheese ($2.95) or a veggie dog with guac and red onions ($3.15). Add a Snapple or San Pelligrino ($1.95 each) — or a Redbridge brew for the gluten-free beer enthusiast — plus a GF cookie or cupcake for dessert, and you’re looking at a satisfying meal with an even more satisfying bill.
