Oct. 2-31: In this Quadricentennial year, artists who draw their inspiration from the river and its valley are getting their due. Oct. 29: Just in time for Halloween: The Jacob Burns Film Center offers a scary science fiction double feature. First, catch the director’s cut of Ridley Scott’s Alien. Besides launching Sigourney Weaver’s career, this 1979 horror flick contains the hair-raising “chest-burster” scene (arguably one of the scariest movie moments of all time).
