The Smoke-N-Fire Food Fest is back! Taking place on October 11 at Provident Bank Park in Pomona, the day’s activities include a culinary competition, spicy food eating contests, live music, kids events, a fire juggler, and — naturally — 50 food vendors hawking their creations. A portion of ticket sales benefits Baking Memories 4 Kids, a local charity that gives terminally ill children the chance to take a dream vacation...

We’re dying to try Kingston’s Just Good Eats Soda Fountain, which made its debut in April. The snazzy shop makes everything from scratch, brewing their own soda syrups as well as crafting their own ice cream and sorbet. And now that the cool weather is here, delectable flavors of hot chocolate, latte, and coffee are on the menu, too...

P.F. Chang’s China Bistro is the newest arrival at the Shops at Nanuet. Capable of seating 200, the restaurant opened in August and serves delightful Chinese cuisine (and cocktails) in a sleek setting dominated by a mural that depicts life in 12th-century China...

Acknowledged as America’s oldest winery — their hand-excavated cellars have been in use since 1839 — Brotherhood Winery in Washingtonville celebrates its long history with a new museum, which debuted in August. Located in the aforementioned cellars, the museum is the newest stop on Brotherhood’s tours, which are offered from April through December and show guests the winery’s 200-plus barrels and some of the oldest vintages in the country. Some vino and some history? Count us in.
