As the last few days of summer slip away and the new school year approaches, Niche announces its 2019 ranking of the best schools in the nation. While we already know that the Hudson Valley boasts a number of top colleges and universities, now we can add top-ranking public and private schools to the region’s list of achievements too.

To assess each district, Niche used data from the U.S. Department of Education to compare factors like state test scores, college readiness, graduation rates, SAT/ACT scores, and more. Read on to see if your local school made the top 50 in each category.

School Districts

Of all the school districts in New York State, two Hudson Valley ones earned top marks. Bethlehem Central School District in Delmar came in at number 42 with an A+ rating. With a 15:1 student-teacher ratio and a ranking at the 13th safest school district in New York, the community is a top pick in the region. Following it up is North Colonie Central School District in Latham, which holds the 50 spot on Niche’s list. The district also earned an A+ and is the third best school in the Albany area.

Public Schools

Only one public school represents the Hudson Valley on Niche’s report this year. Coming in at number 49 is Bethlehem Central Senior High School in Delmar. Its top rank is no surprise, since it is part of the Hudson Valley’s best performing school district. The school, which is the top public school in Albany County, earns an A+ for academics and clubs and activities.

Private Schools

The Hudson Valley is hot stuff when it comes to top quality private schools. Emma Willard School in Troy leads the way in the number 20 spot. Not only is it the best private school in the Albany area, but the all-girls boarding school also earns accolades as the second best boarding high school in all of New York. Following close behind is Hoosac School in Hoosick. The Rensselaer County episcopal boarding school, which ranks 35, earns an A+ for academics, clubs and activities, diversity, and college prep.
