Vegans, rejoice! A brand new foodie festival is making its way to the Hudson Valley this fall. Promoting vegan advocacy and lifestyle, Vegfest will be a weekend-long event hosting several vendors selling vegan products and food along with world-renowned speakers on health, fitness, nutrition, animal rescue, the environment, and more.

The festival was created by two activists, Sande Nosonowitz and Rebecca Moore, who dreamed of bringing Vegfest to the Hudson Valley. “The Hudson Valley is beyond ready for a food-centered festival that is about more than the culinary satisfaction, and which places huge importance on health, animal welfare and compassion, food justice and environmental sustainably," said Nosonowitz. "Hudson Valley Vegfest is an event that will spotlight some of the most forward-thinking companies and organizations that realize the potential of this growing market.”

Hudson Valley Vegfest is not just for people who are already living the vegan lifestyle -- it's also an educational opportunity for those interested in learning more about what it means to be vegan. At the two-day event, participants will be able to try plant-based foods, watch cooking demonstrations, and meet the people behind innovative companies that offer cruelty-free clothing, products, and food. Many local Hudson Valley-based vendors will be participating, and the Vegfest continues to grow in scope and size every week.

“More and more people are hearing and seeing the word vegan everywhere, and are finding themselves increasingly curious to learn about what the plant-based lifestyle is all about in a non-judgmental, fun and all-encompassing setting,” said Nosonowitz. "You won’t be able to leave Hudson Valley Vegfest without a new sense of just how abundant and compassionate the vegan lifestyle is and how it benefits everyone’s health and the environment of our only planet."

The event will be held at Gold’s Gym in Poughkeepsie on September 23-24. The festival begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 6 p.m. both days. For more information visit the Hudson Valley Vegfest website.
