Palladian Barn and Art Barn at The Hill

65 Bells Pond Rd, Hudson
845.758.9002

Anyone romanticizing about a wedding in Hudson should jump on a spot at The Hill, the private 300-acre estate that has views of the Catskills and the Berkshire Mountains. Hold the ceremony inside Palladian Barn, the 1801 building that accommodates 75 to 300 people for a reception, dinner, and dancing. If you prefer an outdoor ceremony, the hilltop grounds are ideal. Afterward, herd the party to the Art Barn for a revelrous after party that comes with a fire pit. The venue has tables aplenty, tents, string lights, fans, games, and more to accommodate couples on their dream day.

Owls Hoot Barn

If you long for a truly rustic wedding experience, look no further than Owls Hoot Barn in Greene County. The 1800s Dutch barn holds up to 180 people for dancing and dining, while the attached pavilion is a dream spot for cocktails or even for the ceremony itself. As far as photos go, you can’t ask for a more beautiful setting than the watercolor grounds of green grass, multicolor wildflowers, and brown willow trees. As a bonus, the site also boasts a red and white vintage 1965 Ford pickup truck, which makes for fun pictures. Anyone who loves vintage décor or dreams of mason jar table settings will swoon over this space.

The Inn at West Settlement

1117 Andrew Gray Rd, Roxbury

For a down-to-earth wedding that resembles a scene from a watercolor painting, consider the barn at The Inn at West Settlement. Nestled near the picturesque Catskill Mountains, the venue charms with a modern rustic barn that sits alongside a spring-fed pond. In season, wedding goers can stroll along the bright flower gardens and cheery blueberry orchard. The barn itself accommodates 150 people and is often used for farm-to-table dinners and reception parties. The inn resides a short distance away from the barn, making it an ideal option for overnight guests. As for the wedding itself, couples can kick off the festivities with a welcome dinner, which includes cocktails and a taco buffet, at the barn. Either the inn’s front lawn or the expansive nearby field are dreamy locations for the ceremony, which flows effortlessly into the barn in the evening. An outdoor bar next to the barn ensures that the party will stay alive into the wee hours of the night.

The Barn at Buttermilk

220 North Road, Milton

Buttermilk is one of those destinations that has it all. Hotel? Check. Restaurant? Check. Spa? Check. On top of all of that, it also boasts The Barn at Buttermilk, a cozy, rustic space that makes for dreamy wedding dinners and receptions. Bridal parties can pamper at the spa before the ceremony, then stroll over to the barn or reception patio to say “I do.” Hudson River views and a close proximity to New York City make Buttermilk an attractive venue for locals and out-of-towners who pine for a country chic wedding in the valley. Catering is a no-brainer, thanks to Henry’s at the Farm, the Inn’s onsite restaurant. The bridal party can stay the night at the inn, which is packed to the rafters with country charm.

The Barn at Handsome Hollow

5256 County Rd 28, Long Eddy

The Barn at Handsome Hollow looks at once like it has been around forever and like it was designed for Pinterest-happy wedding planners. That’s probably because it’s a bit of both. Built 240 years ago near Albany, the former dairy barn was dismantled in 2014 and relocated to Long Eddy. Now the ground is a dream venue for brides and grooms. With soaring ceilings, exposed wood beams, and a cupola on top, the destination is perfect for ceremonies, receptions, photos, and celebratory dinners. The interior seats 150 people and includes two bathrooms and a separate catering area. Banquet tables and chairs are available for easy seating, as is a portable PA system and collection of vintage props. To light up the space, the barn strings romantic twinkle lights inside, and heats things up at night with a bonfire.

The site extends across 48 acres and houses the charming Dutch Colonial home. The triangle top barn seats 140 for a sit-down dinner, making it ideal for a medium-sized ceremony. For a larger party, couples can take advantage of the riverside lawn, which can fit up to 175 for a tented reception. Oak Hill-on-Hudson

184 Oak Hill Rd, Hudson

Fans of the Hudson area should seriously consider a wedding at the barn at Oak Hill. The privately owned home is now open to a limited number of public ceremonies during the year. Situated on an expansive 100-acre estate, the barn accommodates 200 for a ceremony and reception, making it slightly larger than some of the other barn venues on this list. The building’s natural wood feels bright and cheery during the day and warm and inviting at night. Depending on preference, ceremonies can be held outside on the grounds or inside the barn, which works well for communal dinners and extended celebrations at night.

Stone Tavern Farm

2080 Upper Meeker Hollow Rd, Roxbury
607.326.3600

In addition to its day job as a 400-acre horse farm, Stone Tavern also hosts magnificent weddings for up to 400 guests. Plan a wedding weekend from start to finish at the farm, starting on Friday with a rehearsal. Choose between a Saturday wedding inside the barn or out on the waterside pavilion. After the ceremony, guests can unwind with lawn games and wildflower picking before congregating in the 12,000-square-foot hemlock barn for the reception. Perks of a barn party at Stone Tavern include the large dance floor, outdoor deck, and stage space for musical acts. Worth noting – the venue has a B.Y.O.B. policy and offers a hearty Sunday brunch the morning after the wedding.

The Catskill Mountain House

Brook Rd, Roxbury

Emmy Award-winning celebrity personality Cat Greenleaf's conversion of her upstate home into a wedding and event space is a major boon for brides and grooms-to-be. Offering a destination wedding experience in the Hudson Valley, the mountain house loops in an impressive number of one-of-a-kind amenities, including a swimming pond, two vintage airstreams, and a modern farmhouse. The 10 acres of land host not one, but two barns. The first, a large pole barn, accommodates a reception and dancing for up to 120 people. The second, a mini-bar barn, serves up custom cocktails and beverages inside the picturesque, intimate edifice. With oh-so-gorgeous design elements and magnificent mountain views, the Roxbury venue is truly a stunner.

Milk Barn

204 William Brown Rd, Hankins
845.985.7153

Although it is more of a house than a barn, Milk Barn gets its name from its former life as a dairy barn. Nowadays, the 15-acre property serves as a vacation rental space and an intimate wedding venue. Small parties can spend a weekend or more at the semi-remote location for a vacation wedding experience. Plan for a ceremony inside the barn, which boasts a giant fireplace, a chef’s kitchen, and three bedrooms, or outside on the grounds near the tree house or swimming pool. Two onsite guesthouses accommodate an additional five guests, bringing the total overnight guests allowed to 12. Wedding parties can enjoy a quiet freedom at the barn, which is only 30 minutes away from upstate food and shopping destinations like Bethel and Livingston Manor.

The Historic Barns of Nipmoose

59 Sherman Ln, Buskirk
518.944.4414

Located just south of Saratoga Springs, the Historic Barns of Nipmoose take barn weddings to the next level with three beautiful, restored barns situated back to back on a rural farm landscape. The Scottish Barn, German Barn, and Corn Crib function as distinct settings in a harmonious wedding experience. For the ceremony, couples can opt to say “I do” inside the German or Scottish Barn or, more popularly, in the aspen grove by the Corn Crib. The barns are flexible in their use, and can be customized according to individual party preferences. The larger two barns work well for receptions, dinners, dancing, and after parties, while the quaint Corn Crib is perfect for memorabilia displays or as a dessert stand.

The Roxbury Barn

667 County Rd 41, Roxbury
607.326.4874

Unlike the other barn venues in the Hudson Valley, The Roxbury is a bank barn. The carriage style barn, which holds up to 140 people, is built into the side of a cliff. In the front, it appears both vintage and modern, thanks to its silver-gray color wash and dark roof. In the back, however, it is a prep space for caterers, who can access the bottom floor of the venue from the cliff side. The barn is old, over 160 years old, to be exact, yet it has all the amenities required of a contemporary wedding. Guests can order drinks at the interior bar or dance to the tunes that sound from the audio system. The nearby Hilltop Pavilion space is a photographer’s dream for ceremony photos, which capture couples reciting their vows in front of a backdrop of sky-high trees. Afterward, the party can amble down Spring Hill to the forested barn area for dinner and dancing, then wind down the night near the glowing bonfire.
