This New Food Festival Might Be Better Than Smorgasburg

There’s a new food fest in town this season.
After Smorgasburg Kingston said a permanent farewell at the end of last summer (R.I.P.), foodies throughout the Valley grieved the loss of the iconic gourmet festival. Fortunately, however, that grieving didn’t last too long: Salvation came in the form of the new, improved event destined for the very same space.
Yes, that’s right. Over the course of four weekends throughout summer and fall, Hutton Brickyards will play host to Hutton Fare, a family-friendly marketplace that celebrates food, drink, and artisan wares from Hudson Valley makers.
“We are thrilled to be launching Hutton Fare, developed in the spirit of bringing people together around the best food and drink the Hudson Valley has to offer,” says Karl Slovin, President, MWest Holdings, owner of Hutton Brickyards. “Hudson Valley is renowned for its handmade, fresh, local food and drinks and we are looking forward to showcasing those items in this one-of-a-kind community experience.”
Hutton Brickyards, which was once home to The Hutton Brick Works Company, is open throughout the year for weddings and event rentals. The waterfront space is a popular destination for visitors from New York City and locals throughout the Hudson Valley.
Bricks feature prominently into the decor at the Brickyards. / Smorgasburg attracted foodies across the Valley last summer.
The launch of Hutton Fare ties in with the unveiling of the extensive renovations of the brickyard space itself. In addition to updated landscaping, the building also has 26 new bathroom stalls, five dressing rooms, a production office, and a catering prep kitchen. Arguably the most exciting update, however, is the new permanent bar. During select events, the space will serve local brews, ciders, and wines. If you’re in the mood for something special, order up a cocktail crafted by mixologist Jeremy Oertel, formerly of Death & Co., and Natasha David, owner of Nitecap.
The Fare will take place over four weekends: July 21-22, August 18-19, September 15-16, and October 20-21. Vendors are welcome to apply for a space on the event website.
