Glamping is hot in the Hudson Valley. Unlike camping, which is often loaded with bug bites, stressful nights, and a whole lot of complaints, glamping aims to add a bit of comfort to the out-of-doors overnight experience. Locally, the open-air vacation trend has become the thing to do in summer. It’s now so popular that it has reached luxury heights and even earned itself an app (yes, really).

Next up, glamping takes on Kingston. This season, the newly revamped Hutton Brickyards adds yet another feature to its ever-expanding lineup of attractions. Terra Glamping: Hutton Brickyards offers the chance to stay at the luxurious, picturesque campgrounds along the Hudson River. Beginning on July 13 and running through October, the program allows locals and Hudson Valley visitors to unplug in style. Overnighters can spend time with family and friends as they connect with nature without the distraction of WiFi (although there is cell service in case of emergency).

Each safari-style tent fits two to four people and comes equipped with memory foam mattresses, down bedding, and furniture. Campsites provide flashlights, lanterns, cell phone chargers, and a bathroom trailer with flushing toilets, hot showers, and luxe bathroom kits (read: robes, towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and toothpaste) for each guest.

As for attractions, Terra Glamping has that covered too. A lounge tent stocks books, board games, cards, couches, and comfortable seating. During the day, campers can explore the surrounding region and tour the nearby hiking and rafting routes, lighthouses, and sculpture gardens. Each night, guests can lounge by a campfire and snack happy on the gourmet s’mores bar. Everyone rises and shines in the morning to a continental breakfast spread, which includes coffee, tea, and fresh, local pastries.

Think it all sounds more like an Airbnb stay than a camping horror story? That’s because it kind of is. Terra tents look, in the best way possible, like they were pulled straight from Pinterest. They’re spacious, chic, and well stocked, everything that a typical campsite is not.

The concept behind the unique attraction comes from Rebecca Martin and David Levine, two longtime New Yorkers who also founded TerraVelo Tours, a weeklong bike and adventure tour program. After the duo launched Terra Glamping in 2016 in Northern California, they have since expanded the operation to include tent rentals, glamping events, and pop-ups.

Terra Glamping tents sit right along the Hudson River.

The new Hutton Brickyards space accommodates 250 campers, making it a dream destination for a romantic retreat or a fun-filled weekend with friends. On a larger scale, the spot works well for corporate events, yoga escapes, photo shoots, and even weddings.

Prices range from $225 to $375 per night and depend on whether you book a two or four-person tent for midweek or the weekend. For more information or to book a stay, visit https://www.terraglamping.com.
