Ice Cream Social

Boscobel House and Gardens, Garrison
June 30, 12-3 p.m.

If you’ve never been to Boscobel before, make this the weekend you check a visit to the historic grounds off your Hudson Valley bucket list. This family-friendly event is not your typical ice cream social. Visitors can scoop up traditional Jane’s Ice Cream flavors like chocolate and vanilla or dare each other to try unconventional varieties like Ice Creamed Oyster, which was popular during the days of George Washington and Thomas Jefferson. Also at the social, The New Hudson Saxophone Quartet will play a few tunes, while the Historic House Museum will be open for exploration.

Angry Orchard Rock the Roots Music Festival

Angry Orchard, Walden
June 30, 2-10 p.m.

Are you in the mood for a music festival? Angry Orchard has you covered. Head to the Walden orchard for the kickoff of the Rock the Roots Tour, which features top musicians like Sublime with Rome, Lupe Fiasco, Matisyahu, and The Original Wailers. In addition to good tunes, the festival will also include unique cider-themed experiences like tours of the cider house, cider tappings, and an inside look at the orchard treehouse.

Beer, Bourbon, and Bacon

Barton Orchards, Poughquag
June 30, 2-6 p.m.

Barton Orchards packs it all in on Saturday with a bounty of beer, bourbon, and, yes, bacon. As you eat and drink to your heart’s content, chat with the vendors and explore the best of what the Hudson Valley has to offer. New this year is the Beer, Bourbon, and Bacon 5K race, set to take place at 1:30 p.m. Whether you run in the race or cheer from the sidelines, treat yourself afterward with a delectable cider donut (or two).

Sausage and Cider Festival

Bad Seed Cider Company, Highland
July 1, 1-5 p.m.

A true Hudson Valley foodie festival, the Bad Seed event highlights local artisans and makers for a pre-Fourth of July party. Attendees can sample over 20 styles of hard ciders and beers as they chow down on Hudson Valley Sausage Company sausages and local desserts.  As for entertainment, musicians will be onsite throughout the day, while fireworks are scheduled at night.
